The tutors are prepared at each lesson, they got detailed information into exactly what was needed to accomplish their end goal and every week I get a detailed summary as to what they worked on and where they will be focusing their attention in the following week. They were able to identify my son's weakness' and help him to understand why he was having difficulty in that specific area. I have seen a dramatic improvement in his ability to move through all of the SAT practice tests and He continues to make improvements in all areas. 2012- Kara is great. Even above her work with Robert, what's most impressive to me about her is her off-tutor time. She put together tools for him to help him prepare. She put together models to test how he rationalizes his way through exams. She spent time (like Tony always did) looking for tools to use with his specific textbook. She made quizzes for him and taught him to HIS learning style. She had him draw diagrams to double-check what they'd learned together. She spent time with ME after their session, discussing where his strengths and weaknesses are, and how I can help him better. She is really great for him. He's a tough personality--he doesn't work well with people he thinks are slackers. He will TUNE OUT. But his BIG hot button is insincerity. He has an insincerity meter in his brain. If he thought for a moment that she wasn't all in, he would check out. He thinks she's FABULOUS. Just like he feels about Tony.
We appreciate the quality of the tutors you've sent to us. Tony and Kara are truly unique individuals sincere to helping kids understand. They clearly enjoy what they do, and the kids can tell. When Robert didn't do well on his exam, Kara took it personally and has been working to understand how she can help him better.

At one point last year, my child was several weeks behind in Geometry and had a deadline not only to complete the work, but to prepare for the final. It was a very stressful time for us. Hi Christina,
Your work with Jasmine has been extremely helpful and she is doing very well! She scored a 91% and 99% on her last two cumulative tests in Language Arts. Generally, her math is very strong. I have discovered the same thing...if she misses a problem; it's typically because she didn't read it carefully and not because she does not understand it. She received a score of "proficient" on her last 4 writing assignments. Overall, she is scoring proficient or advanced in every subject. I do not have any areas of "concern" for Jasmine. However, it still does take her a long time to complete assignments. From my observations, this is just the pace she works at. She is not losing time to meticulousness or distraction. The writing program this year emphasizes three things: proper capitalization (beginning of sentences and proper nouns), punctuation, and descriptive language. Our main focus has been on writing a paragraph. The students are currently writing 5 sentence paragraphs but the actual requirement is only 3 sentences. I hope this helps! Since we began tutoring on December 13, Dakota has improved by leaps and bounds in Algebra and Science. Her original state was running panicked from one test to the next, turning in unfinished homework as a result of procrastination, and scoring D's and occasional F's on her tests. We have made such progress in her study skills as a whole, that she now studies HERSELF on a daily basis, and feels much more confident about testing. Her improvement at test prep has even overflowed into her other classes, especially Grammar, which stressed her out significantly when we first met, and now seem simple and routine. Also, she now has the tools and understanding to OVERCOME her obstacles in Math, instead of just giving up on them. Naturally, we have also covered much actual material, from physics formulas and chemistry equations to polynomial division and trinomial factoring. But even more impressive, we have improved Dakota's METHOD of learning. She is much more self-reliant and responsible, has no fear of new Science and Algebra concepts, and tests are no longer the bane of her existence. A great improvement from my perspective.
All grades are A's and B's now...
8th Grader in Jeopardy of graduating-
Paula was stressed out and afraid she'd be prevented from walking in her 8th grade ceremony as she was receiving an F in Algebra. We enrolled her the first week of April and in the first week of May received the email form her mother "Update.... Paula now has an A average in math!

I wanted to express my sincere thanks to you in regards to my daughters amazing progress in school since starting with Tutor Doctor. Dakota has only been with her tutor for two months and already her test scores in grammar, science and history have gone from D's and F's to high A's.
Her overall grades are now strong B's and A's. Your careful selection of matching the right tutor to the student was spot on. Dakota looks forward to her time with her tutor, Vivian. My daughter is totally engaged during her sessions and now truly understands the material of the subjects, instead of just guessing and it going in one ear and out the other. From what Andrew is saying, he had very good sessions with Richard. He was so proud last Wednesday, came home after school with an "HONORS" award. Both Andrew and Alex received this award for the first trimester.
We notice a big change with Andrew's confidence especially when working on his homework. Usually, he'd be whining about how difficult the homework is, but now he will just sit down quietly and complete them on his own with very minimal assistance from anybody at home.

We are very happy with our experience to date with our son's tutor, Ryan. We were not sure what to expect when we signed on, but Ryan is very conscientious and relates extremely well with our son, Bryce. They have really made a connection. We just received our sons ACT scores and we are all very pleased! He had a composite score of 20 which is a 4 point increase over his previous result. We are very happy with Daryl. He is a wonderful tutor and relates to Matt very well. He is able to explain things in a way that Matt can understand. When Matt doesn't understand something at first, Daryl is very patient and uses another method to help Matt work through a problem. Matt is doing so much better in Algebra, because of his time with Daryl. He actually understands what he is learning now and is much less frustrated. I'm sure that Matt would have failed Algebra, as he had a 47 average. As far as some feedback regarding Jeff tutoring, I will say that it is going very well! Olivia has warmed up to Jeff a lot. I was so afraid that things would be really difficult because the very first session was a nightmare!! Olivia was very unreceptive of the idea of being tutored but after that first initial meeting all has gone VERY smoothly! Jeff seems to be a very patient teacher and he and Olivia work very well together. I do think that you found us a good match with Jeff and he's been doing great work with Olivia. I looked at various tutoring comp anies, but one that stood out the most was Tutor Doctor. With its great reputation and friendly franchise representatives, it wasn't a very hard choice. Tutoring has been a great experience for me, and in many different ways. I have really enjoyed meeting an assortment of different people, both parents and children, and getting welcomed into their homes with smiles and excitement. I have greatly benefited from the extensive traveling to different students as it gave me a chance to get to know the city more. The extra income has been very beneficial, especially for someone living away from parents and the financial security they can sometimes provide.
